Carpal Tunnel Never Felt So Good

For a long time now, I have had the best intentions of downloading/saving all our pictures that are stored on the computer. I just knew that if I didn't do it soon, some great catastrophe would be the death of them.

And me.

breathe people. it's okay.

So for the last week, in between my other Internet ramblings and required life duties around here, I have been trying to get all my pictures downloaded onto a safe location.

First, I had to decide where to put them. Major life decisions make me falter, so I was stuck on that for awhile! There are so many easy and great choices out there. My husband suggested just saving them on CD, which I will probably do as well later, but I was trying to multi-task with the choice I made.

Aren't I always?!

Finally, I just went with Shutterfly. I already had 2 albums on their site because I had done my holiday cards with them twice. The other plus is that I can allow access to my family if they ever want to download/print some pictures for themselves. My dad is always wanting a copy of a picture here and there, so now I just simplified the process for him....and me!

Once I made that decision, I then decided to do it right from the beginning. Most of my albums will be for specific events, but I am also doing category albums. I will probably need to divide those up later, but for now, it will do.

The job would be much easier if I had been organized from the beginning! I had/have countless pictures just randomly saved in "MyPictures" file. At first, I would create an album, then start scrolling through ALL.THE.PICTURES. to find those that fit the category.

CRAZY! I stopped that mess and spent the last couple of days creating appropriate folders on my computer to make for easy album creation next!

Let's just say that my wrists will be parked over ice for the next few days!

But boy howdy, do the results make my little OCD-heart sing when I open the file and see all those nice and neat folders!

I should finish all my album downloading by the weekend. Then I can breathe again.

Blue is really not my color.

You would be so proud of me, too! I even have a folder labeled "BlogPictures".

I added this one to it recently:

Once again, I feel the need to remind you people to breathe!

I thought this would be a good time to introduce you to the newest member of the family~ Nikon D60 18-55VR.

Or as I like to call her~ Precious!

This was my TOTAL.SHOCK!OH.NO.YOU.DID.NOT!AND.I.THINK.I.HAVE.DIED.AND.GONE.TO.CAMERA.HEAVEN! gift that I received from my "work" family my last week there.

I won't even try to explain how much that place and those ladies mean to me right here. It is too big and deserves it's own story. Suffice it to say, we don't even discuss my leaving. We refer to it as my sabbatical until I return!

My "baby" is overwhelming! I am using her, but not nearly doing her justice so far! Just the simplest shots I take are almost breath-taking in terms of the crispness and clarity. I think I might try to take a photography class in the fall, so I can feel more like a pro.

Who knows, maybe I will even become a "pro"!

Oh, the task of organizing all of my photos on the computer completely overwhelms me. As a matter of fact, I'm going to stop thinking about it now. It just gave me indigestion (which I'm sure has nothing to do with the pregnancy)!

Nice new "baby", btw! SNAZZY!

I just did that too! It feels wonderful, doesn't it? Thankfully I at least already had them stored on my computer with a 'system'. I have a folder for each year, and each month for the year. Then within the month folders, I have more folders by date and they get filed that way. So to recreate my folders with online storage wasn't too difficult, just very time consuming getting them all uploaded. But I know what you mean - I can breathe a bit easier now myself. I was so afraid my computer would crash and thousands of pictures would be lost. It does feel good!

And congrats on the new addition - she's beautiful! ;)

So very cool!!!! I've had my eye on that camera, but I ended up buying the Pentax 200. I'd rather have your D60 though!

I've been saying (for years) I'm going to get my pictures saved someplace other than my computer! You've inspired me! I think I'll try to download mine to CD's. Problem is, I have so many pictures!!!

Love your new baby. It's amazing the difference a good camera can make! I highly recommend Adobe Photoshop Elements 6. It's great! Also, Pioneer Woman has some great techniques for using elements. You asked me once how I did the arrow on a picture ... it was with photoshop elements.

well you read about my picture scare so it's great that you got them saved. It took me forever because I had so many but I feel so relieved now that it's done.

The camera looks awesome! That was so nice.
