The interest was big enough that we had girls for one troop each; Daisy, Brownie, and Junior. I took the Brownie troop of 2nd and 3rd graders since A was to start 2nd last year.
I thought it would be no big deal. I am organized, have fun ideas, and understand how to deal with kids.
I missed the course on Emotional and Behavioral Dynamics of 2nd Grade Girls!
Our troop had 5 2nd graders and 4 3rd graders. AND.LET.ME.TELL.YOU, you CAN tell the difference!
But we survived and I am hoping to have my A-game perfected by the time September rolls around.

Through our cookie sales this year, the girls chose a fun activity and a service project.
For our service project, the girls hosted a Tea Party for a group of ladies at one of the local nursing homes. The ladies LOVED it and I loved watching some of our girls serving and getting to know these ladies!
The local Service Unit hosted a Luau Sleepover in April. I only had a few girls go, but they (and I) had a blast!
There is a local gentleman that teaches traditional island dances. He did such a great job of really explaining to the girls about the islands and the dances. He served in our military for over 25 years. He and his wife taught whereever they were stationed during those years.

The girls decided on ice skating for their fun activity, so we hit the road one Saturday for some fun on the ice....and a yummy meal!
I think most of the girls had fun this year. They earned 8 Try-Its through activities during our troop meetings, sold lots of cookies, and got to enjoy a few outings! Some girls discovered that scouting wasn't for them and others flourished.
I am looking forward to doing this again next year, but you can start praying for me now! I need willing mothers/parents to help during my troop meetings and our outside activities AND I need a theme and lots of ideas for the sleepover next April. Yep, I am planning the local chapter sleepover for all the troops.
What was I thinking?!!

That tea-party event was a GREAT idea! I'm sure the ladies felt so blessed!
This was my first year in 5 not having my own troop...I loved it at times but other times I was like seriously more work shops and paperwork and I will scream.
Oh wow! Yeah, I'm not gonna be doing that. I would like to join your troop, though!! ;)
